Google Reviews for Restaurants: QR Code, Wording, Placement

Diners decide with the map open. Two restaurants side by side, one at 4.6 with 800 reviews and one at 4.1 with 90, and the second never gets the call. Food, service and price get you the review; the QR only removes the awkward part of asking.

Why Google reviews decide who gets the customer

  • Search intent is instant: "restaurant near me" is decided in under a minute on the star rating and review count.
  • Volume matters as much as rating. A steady stream of recent reviews keeps you ahead of the place that got 200 reviews in 2022 and none since.
  • Reviews that mention dishes ("the butter chicken", "the Sunday thali") show up when people search for those dishes.

What customers of a restaurant actually praise

These are the things people tap on the review page, so the wording they get talks about what they noticed, not generic praise.

Where the QR code earns scans in a restaurant

On the bill folder

The bill is the natural end of a good meal and the phone is already out for UPI. Highest scan rate of any spot.

Table tent

Visible through the meal, so regulars scan while waiting. Print one per table from the print pack.

At the counter or takeaway window

For takeaway-heavy places, a sticker where people wait for the parcel.

All four layouts (A4 poster, table tent, stickers, staff card) come in one print pack.

What staff can say

One sentence at the right moment. In most restaurants it sounds like this:

Sir, khana kaisa laga? Bill pe QR hai, 20 second mein Google pe bata dijiye.

The staff card in the print pack has the line in Hinglish and English with three tips on timing.

The rules, in one paragraph

Google allows you to ask every customer for a review. It does not allow paying or discounting for reviews, writing them yourself, or showing the review link only to happy customers. Testimonic is built inside those rules: every customer sees the Google option whatever they rate, wording is a suggestion the customer edits, and posting happens from the customer's own account. Read the longer version in how to get more Google reviews without breaking the rules.

Questions from restaurants

Can I put the QR code on the bill?

Yes. A QR on the bill folder or printed on the receipt is allowed. What is not allowed is offering a discount or a free dessert for the review.

Diners are in a hurry. Will they really write a review?

They do not have to write. They tap a star, pick two or three things they liked (taste, service, ambience) and get ready-made wording in their language which they can edit. Most finish in about 20 seconds.

We get some unhappy customers. Does this hide their reviews?

No. Every customer sees the option to post on Google, whatever they rate. Low ratings also get a private feedback form, so you hear about the cold dal before it becomes a public review, but nothing stops them from posting.

Multiple outlets?

Each Google listing needs its own account and QR, so the reviews land on the right outlet.

What does it cost?

One plan for every business: first month free, then ₹249 per month with unlimited QR codes. No card needed to start, no auto-renewal. See pricing.
