Frequently asked questions about Google reviews and Testimonic
Straight answers on how the Google review QR code works, what customers see, verification, pricing, privacy and the things that occasionally go wrong. If your question is not here, email support@testimonic.com.
Testimonic is Google reviews software for local businesses in India: a QR code that takes customers to your Google review page with ready-made wording in eleven languages, a private feedback inbox for unhappy customers and a dashboard that shows what is working. The questions below are the ones we hear most often from restaurants, cafes, salons, clinics, gyms, stores and home service businesses.
Getting started
How do I sign up for Testimonic?
Go to the start free page, enter your name, email and a password, and confirm your email address. Then type your business name and pick your listing from the Google search results. Your address, category and Google review link fill themselves in from the listing. The first month is free and no card is needed, so the whole sign-up takes about two minutes. If you would rather see it first, the pricing page shows everything the one plan includes.
How does the software find my Google listing?
During onboarding you type your business name, and we search Google Places for matching listings. Pick the right one and we store its Place ID, which is the stable identifier Google uses for your business profile. The review link is built from that Place ID, so it always opens the review box for the correct listing. Only the text you type and the listing you choose are sent to Google. Read more about the setup on the Google review QR code page.
What is business verification and why is it needed?
Verification confirms that the person creating the account actually runs the business, so nobody can set up a review page for a shop they do not own. Until a listing is verified, the customer page stays closed. There are two ways to verify: an email code sent to an address at the website domain listed on your Google profile, or a manual check by our team. Both are free and both are explained on the features page.
How does verification by website-domain email work?
If your Google profile lists a website, for example examplecafe.in, we ask for an email address at that domain such as owner@examplecafe.in. We send a six-digit code there; enter it and the listing is verified immediately. This works because only someone who controls the business website can read mail at that domain. If the code does not arrive, you can request a new one or switch to a different address at the same domain from the same screen.
What if my Google listing has no website?
Many small businesses in India have a Google profile without a website, or list a marketplace or social page that is not a business domain. In that case the domain email option is not shown and we check the listing by hand instead. You submit a short manual verification request from the onboarding screen and we compare the details you gave with the listing. It usually takes less than a working day. You can email support@testimonic.com if you need it sooner.
How long does it take to get my first QR code?
About two minutes from sign-up to a print-ready file if you verify by email code. Once the listing is verified, your first QR code is created automatically and you can download it as PNG or SVG, or print an A4 or A5 sheet as a counter card, table tent or sticker. If you choose manual verification, the QR code is ready as soon as our check is complete. See the steps on the review QR code page.
The customer experience
What happens when a customer scans the QR code?
Their phone opens a light web page with your business name and logo. No app and no login are needed. They tap a star rating, pick a few highlights such as friendly staff or quick service, choose a language and see two or three suggested pieces of review wording. They edit it as they like, tap once to copy it and are taken to your Google review page to paste and post. Every step is designed to work on a slow connection. Try it on the home page demo.
What are highlights?
Highlights are short chips that describe what stood out: things like clean, value for money, helpful doctor or great coffee. Each business category comes with a ready-made set, and you can add, rename or hide highlights from your dashboard. The customer picks up to five and the suggested wording is built only from those choices, so nothing appears in the text that the customer did not actually pick. Details are on the features page.
Which languages does the review wording support?
Ten Indian languages: English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali and Punjabi. The wording for each language is written separately rather than machine-translated, so it reads the way people actually speak. The customer chooses the language on the page, and you can turn languages on or off for your business. Reviews in a customer's own language are genuine and read well to other local customers searching in that language.
Can the customer edit the suggested wording?
Yes, and we encourage it. The suggested text sits in an editable box. Customers can change a word, add a sentence about a specific dish or staff member, or delete the suggestion and write their own. They can also ask for other ways to say it. The final text is copied to the clipboard only when they tap to continue, so what reaches Google is whatever they chose to write.
How does the review actually get posted on Google?
After the customer taps to continue, their phone opens your Google review page and the wording they chose is on their clipboard. They paste it, choose their stars on Google and post from their own Google account. We do not post on their behalf and we never see their Google account. This keeps the review genuine and keeps you inside Google's rules. The review management software page explains the full flow.
What happens when a customer gives a low rating?
If the rating is at or below the threshold you set (one to three stars), the customer is asked what went wrong and can leave a phone number or email if they want you to follow up. That message goes to your private feedback inbox and you get an email. The option to continue to Google stays on the same screen, so nobody is prevented from posting publicly. Most people appreciate the chance to tell you directly first.
Is this review gating? Does it break Google's policy?
No. Review gating means showing the Google link only to happy customers and hiding it from unhappy ones, which Google prohibits. On our customer page every rating, including one star, sees the same public option to continue to Google. The private feedback form is offered in addition, never instead. Customers choose their own rating and their own words, and post from their own account. See the terms of service for the commitment in writing.
Does the customer need to install an app or create an account?
No. The QR code opens a normal web page in the phone's browser. Customers do not create an account with us, do not download anything and are not asked for personal details on the review path. To post the review itself they need to be signed into Google on their phone, which almost everyone already is. On the private feedback path, contact details are optional.
QR codes, NFC and links
How many QR codes can I create?
As many as you like; the plan includes unlimited QR codes. Most businesses create one per placement, for example counter, tables, bill and door, so the dashboard can show which spot gets scanned most. Every code opens the same customer page for your business. Create, name and download codes from the QR codes page in your dashboard. The Google review QR code page shows the print layouts.
What formats can I download and print?
Each QR code is available as a PNG at the size you choose and as an SVG for a printer or designer. There are also print-ready A4 and A5 sheets with your business name and a short call to action, laid out as a counter card, table tent or sticker. You can pick the QR colour to match your brand. Print at any local print shop or on an office printer.
If I change settings, do I need to reprint the QR code?
No. The printed code points to a short, permanent link, and everything else lives on our side. Change your logo, colours, headline, languages, highlights or the low rating threshold and the printed code shows the new version on the next scan. Even if you later change the Google listing, the same code keeps working once the new listing is verified. Print once and keep it.
Where should I place the QR code?
Where the customer is happiest and has a free moment. For a restaurant or cafe that is the bill folder and the table tent. For a salon it is the mirror station or the payment counter. For a clinic it is the reception desk after the consultation. For home services it is a card handed over at the end of the job. The QR code placement guide goes through each business type.
Can I use NFC tags instead of QR codes?
Yes. Any NFC tag or card can be written with the same short link that the QR code carries. A customer taps their phone on the tag and the same review page opens. NFC is handy at a counter where a tap feels quicker than a scan. We do not sell tags; buy blank NFC tags from any electronics shop or online and write the link with a free NFC app. Use a QR code alongside for phones that have NFC switched off.
Can I share a plain link on WhatsApp or SMS?
Yes. Every QR code has a short link that you can copy from the dashboard and send in a WhatsApp message, an SMS, an email signature or a website button. It is the same page the QR code opens. Sending the link right after a completed service, when the customer is already on their phone, is one of the most reliable ways to collect a review. Create a separate code for links so the numbers stay separate from in-store scans.
Pricing and billing
How much does Testimonic cost?
There is one plan at ₹249 per month, and the first month is free. Everything is included: unlimited QR codes, the customer page in ten languages, the Google review link, the private feedback inbox, analytics and CSV export. There are no per-review or per-scan charges and no setup fee. Full details are on the pricing page.
Do I need a card to start the free month?
No. The free month begins when you sign up and we do not ask for a card or any payment details. Nothing is charged automatically at the end of the free month. If the service is useful you pay for the next month from the billing page in your dashboard; if not, you simply do nothing. Start on the register page.
How do I pay after the free month?
Open the billing page in your dashboard and pay ₹249 for one month. If you pay before the current month ends, the new month starts when the old one finishes, so paying early loses nothing. There is no auto-renewal and no card is stored. If you prefer to arrange payment through our team, for example by bank transfer, write to support@testimonic.com and we will record the payment on your account manually.
What happens when my paid month expires?
Your QR codes keep working, but customers who scan see a calm message that the review page is currently inactive. Your settings, QR codes, wording, feedback and history are all kept. Pay for a month and the page is live again within seconds, for one month from that day. Nothing is deleted because you paused, and there is no penalty for a gap.
Is there a contract or a cancellation fee?
No. You pay one month at a time and there is nothing to cancel, because nothing renews by itself. To stop, just do not pay for the next month. To leave completely, delete your account from the settings page and everything associated with it is removed. GST invoices are available on request at support@testimonic.com.
Do you offer a discount for multiple outlets?
Each Google listing needs its own account at the standard ₹249 per month, and each account gets its own free month. If you are setting up a chain of several outlets at once, write to support@testimonic.com before you begin and we will help you get every listing verified and set up together. See the pricing page for what each account includes.
Data and privacy
What information do you store about my customers?
For each scan session we record the star rating, the highlights picked, the language and length, the suggested and final wording, and whether the customer continued to Google. We store a salted, truncated hash of the IP address to limit abuse; raw IP addresses are not stored. Customers are not identified unless they choose to leave contact details on the private feedback form. The privacy policy sets it out in full.
Do customers need to create an account with you?
No. Customers never create an account with Testimonic. The review page opens in their browser and needs nothing from them except their rating, their choices and, if they wish, a few edits to the wording. Posting the review happens on Google, under the customer's own Google account and Google's privacy policy. We do not see or store their Google account.
Are contact details required on the private feedback form?
No. The private feedback form asks what went wrong and offers optional fields for a name, phone number or email. A customer can send feedback with no contact details at all. If they do leave a number, it is shown only to you in your feedback inbox so that you can follow up. Customers can ask you or us to delete their feedback at any time.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes. You can download all your sessions as a CSV from the dashboard whenever you like. Deleting your account permanently removes your business, sessions, feedback and QR codes from our servers. Reviews posted on Google are, of course, on Google and are not affected. Questions about data can go to support@testimonic.com.
Troubleshooting
My business does not appear when I search for it. What should I do?
First, check that the business has a Google Business Profile and that it is live; a brand new profile can take a few days to appear in search results. Then try searching with the city name added, or with the exact spelling used on Google Maps. If it still does not appear, email support@testimonic.com with the Google Maps link to your listing and we will attach it for you.
I picked the wrong Google listing. How do I fix it?
Open the business page in your dashboard and choose a different listing. Search again, pick the correct one and save. Your review link is rebuilt from the new listing automatically. Because the listing changed, verification is reset and you will be asked to verify the new listing by domain email or manual check before the customer page goes live again. Your QR codes do not change.
Does changing my listing affect printed QR codes?
No. QR codes carry a short link to our servers, not the Google link itself, so the printed codes keep working after you switch listings. The only pause is the short period until the new listing is verified, during which customers who scan see the inactive message. Once verified, the same printed codes send customers to the correct Google review page.
The verification code email has not arrived.
Check the spam or promotions folder and wait a couple of minutes, since some mail servers delay messages. From the verification screen you can send a new code or enter a different address at the same domain. If the domain email is not something you can access, for example because a web agency owns it, use the manual verification option instead and our team will check the listing by hand.
A customer says the page shows "currently inactive". Why?
This message appears when the paid month has ended, when the listing is waiting for verification, or when a QR code has been switched off in your dashboard. Open the billing page to check whether a payment is due, and the business page to check verification status. Paying or completing verification makes the page live again immediately. If everything looks correct and the message persists, write to support@testimonic.com.
